Default Need Help With Lowered Civic 91HB EF

My 1991 EF Civic Hatch is lowered on Bilstein Shocks and neuspeed race springs, i recently put a new upper ball joint on the driver side front. and now the upper control arm bangs against the frame when ever i go over a bump etc...

I bought my car with the mods. It has a camber kit as well.

How do i make it stop slamming against the frame??

I'm told i can grind it out? to clear the frame? can anyone clarify this?

Here Are Some Pics....that look similar to my car.

it doesnt look low enough to be hitting the control arm are you sure you put the ball joint on right? you cant really grind anything its the top of the uper control arm hitting the body right? what kind of camber kit do you have?

from what i've searched and found it is a common problem. actually it was done by my mechanic, and the only way to make it align is if it hits the frame. is it the upper arm which needs to be grinded to clear the frame? i just need someone who has done this to clarify....

"It`s the camber kit that makes it hit. It sucks cause to not wear your tires out you have to put up with this.

You can trim the edge on the upper ball joint to clear the frame, that`s really the only thing you can do. " -90_civic_Si

o you got the camber kit so its pushed out more. just take off the wheel jack the hub up and see how much needs to be grinded off and grind it.

dude just look up in there and see whats going on youll see whats hitting what then see what needs to be grinded and how much. since the part is on the car youll need an angle grinder be carefull cause it sounds like youve never used one and dont grind off more than is needed.

i had the same problem with my 88 crx si... but i didnt grind anything... i had just put the tokico blues with drop zone coil overs and R1 camber kit and was excited to drive it when i heard the banging i took the wheel off and checked it out... the upper arm was hitting the body...i bent the body part with a hamer till it cleared... not proud of it but it did the job... im guessing you can grind it down tho...

Yeah, i'm not planning on doing this, i'm just trying to find out all the details. My mechanic friend who happens to have a badass Honda tattoo on his arm does the majority of the work, he knows what he's doing. He just hasn't had to grind the upper arm before. But he says it should be pretty simple to figure it out.
