Default H22 dyno chart skunk2 intake manifold with s300

Well here it is a jdm h22 aem intake, mugen header, greddy exhaust. was tuned with a vafc, now we put on the skunk2 pro series intake manifold with s300 and here's the graph. My customer was pissed.

The red lines are his old graph
The blue lines are with s300 and skunk2 intake manifold

Why upgrade the IM on a stock motor?

He would have been better off with a bigger T-body, cam gears or some other parts.

I just got off the phone with Jeff @ skunk2 he said it was designed for higher compression with atleast a stage 2 cam. he is going to test it on an engine they have there next week that is stock and see what happens. I appreciate that he took the time to listen and not blow me off like some guy building an engine in the front yard.

I have not seen one of those manifolds do well over the stock or Euro R manifold on a stock internal application. I think the manifold will do much better on a motor with larger displacement and bigger cams however I have yet to see a comparison to confirm this.

I wouldn't mind trying one for ***** and giggles (stock internals with cams and open header 220whp).

That does suck *** when you get a manifold and S300 and still manage to lose 2hp and 6lb of torque.

Yes and it was my educated guess that it would work better atleast somewhere. So it was technically my bad for suggesting it but i really thought it would help.

What, the +1hp @ 7500rpm wasn't enough for him? Heh. It sucks getting on the dyno only to have the new setup get blown out of the water by the old one...

Thanks for posting, it's nice to see solid evidence about the H22 S2 IM's effect, even if it sucks

Did you put the Hondata 300 on at the same time ?, if you did how can you be sure that it´s not a bad tune, I think it looks realy weird that you would loose power up top with the Skunk2 manifold ??

wow that does suck, it seems the last 3 or 4 H22s i have tuned have made right at 200whp with barely anything done to them, for example, cheap intake pipe and DC sports header, it made 196

and a JDM H22 with a real HKS intake, stock exh manifold, and a cheezy exhaust made 201 with an s200 tuned by me

im wanting to dyno a heavily modified H22 to see what kinda differences there are and if the big amount of cash is really worth it

all in all i just woulda bought a nitrous kit

PWL</TD></TR></TABLE> I know it's not a bad tune because i tuned it. I tried everything i know to make it better and i couldn't fix it even the magic intake was no match for this beast.

Well, you can't really compare your dyno charts with others on this forum. Your dyno obviously reads higher than the one at this shop. An h22 with a cheap intake pipe and a DC header should not be making 4 hp less to the wheels than the stock hp rating to the flywheel though, so i would say yours reads a tad high.

But yeah that really sucks the setup lost power... I could have told you the S2 mani wouldn't have helped though... I have yet to see them produce anything impressive.

Like 2point6's motor?? Well he lost power with the skunk 2 over his euro-R...

ahahahaha, SKUNK2 H Manifold is their worse design. what do you expect, they don't have any intake design talent. Their B manifold is a ITR copy. Their D manifold is a B16A adapted to D, which happens to work pretty decent.

sorry bearsEK, didn't mean to laugh at your customer. but that **** is kinda funny. you using the same tb; every thing the same, except for skunk IM w/S300?

It does suck when an 'upgrade' loses power. The H22 and H23 seem very sensitive to intake manifold changes.

I talked to Tony and jeff from skunk2 about a couple of issues. Tony said he would take the manifold back if thats what it took to make us happy, He said they fixed the throttle body problem of sticking and he said i could send the 3 that i have back to get the new design. I guess i have to give them credit for trying. Most companys would say your fu**ed. They Make great cams though
