Throttle Delay
Alright, now I know about throttle lag on the Si's, and I know it's only supposed to last a second or two until it goes back down to normal rev... I have a non-si, going through first is fine, say I'm driving it decently, second stays revved at like 5, 6k... until I completely let off the gas. The same for third, fourth and fifth. And if I floor it in any of the gears, it doesn't just rev a little and accellerate, it just kind of picks an rpm and stays at it until the the cars speed catches up.... wtf?

And having it rev at 5,6k isn't saving a ton of gas, it's burning more up.</TD></TR></TABLE>
Take it into your dealer if it is acting differently and just started.

The DRive by wire issues are throughout all the honda models, not just Si's
its probably what your experiencing.
Take a 2000 civic Si and stop at a 4way stop totally in first and go to accelerate.
it will stall..
Take a 2006 civic (any model) and stop at a 4way stop totally, you have a split second to accelerate again before it stalls.
The point of that is Drive by wire doesn't always have to be a negative issue
but it sounds like thats what the problem is.

True, I can't argue that sometimes it can be good, but I smell clutch abuse when I get to wherever I'm going, and it's not me, I know how to drive stick... and it's not just at a stop, it's while driving, I can floor it and it'll take anywhere from 5-10 seconds to catch up to the rpms.

so your giving it gs and the rpm's go up but the car does not accelerate right away. that sounds like a clutch problem. especially if you can smell the clutch burning when you get out of the car. take it to the dealer asap.
dude if its a new car they should fix it. Honestly Honda has been having issues with their transmissions for quite sometime now (I overheard this from someone at the Honda Corporate Office). They should be able to fix it and honestly most places sometimes don't know how to fix it so they sometimes just put a whole new tranny in to solve the problem. Explain the problem as best as you can and it should be alright...as long as they dont think you are driving it like a race car driver it should be covered...they like to look at your tires to see that you are not spinning out or peeling out at the lights.
Bro, it was negligence on my buddy's part, I let him borrow my car and he f*cked around with it all day.... burned out my clutch and killed my flywheel..... I already had both replaced.

Honda has had some serious issues with 00+ Odyssey and SOME Accord transmissions, other then that all other models RARLEY come back with any sort of trans issues. So saying that Honda has been having issues with their transmissions for some time is partly true in the fact that the Odyessey ones are prone to failure, but as far as the new civics, elements, ridgelines, crvs, etc its not enough of an issue to even bother mentioning it IMO.

So the numerous threads about the 2nd/3rd gear issue in these forums and others are really just a bunch of isolated incidences that have joined together in an internet conspiracy with an aim to attract attention from Honda?

You seem so knowledgeable about Hondas and automotive technology, why dont you enlighten us all? Can you post something more valuable than hearsay?
Funny you mention corp Honda, because I just sat down to lunch the other day with my DPSM, WHO IS "CORPORATE Honda" and we talked in-depth about Honda transmissions ... you post something you "overheard" and portray it here like its a fact. I attend quite a few seminars and meetings on a monthly basis with "corporate" Honda, other parts and service managers and DPSM's and not once has anyone complained about how many transmissions they have to replace,.. so as I said, your statement regarding Honda transmissions having serious issues is completley invalid

A couple people on an internet forum complain about a notchy 3rd gear and now its a serious issue...? When I first started driving my FG2 I experinced the 3rd gear "problem" but since then I've made damn sure the clutch is completley on the floor before shifting and havent had it reoccur since. And I'm so sure that a couple kids who post on HT are attracting a ton of attention from AHM. There are a number of Si's out there that have been sold to people who arent members of honda-tech believe it or not! I can count 15 in my town all of which have NEVER brought their car in saying " The transmission in this thing sucks, i hate 3rd gear and I need a reflash",.....
Anyway, this thread is about throttle delay so lets keep it on-topic

lol Jay2005.
Anywho, I personally think that DBW just requires drivers to adjust their style of driving. I personally like the rev-lag because it lets me match rpms better. Instead of running the revs up and down so quickly like in a cable driven car. On the contrary however, it is a bit different to drive, but reading here ahead of time has me seeing that there is really no problem, its just different.
