how difficult is it to take off the srs wheel? my car was wrecked when i bought it and it all looks like **** from where the bag came out...any help? or point me in the right direction

 

Really easy, since it's already blown and you don't have to worry about setting the bag off. Be sure to exercise caution when installing a new bag though, because you definitely don't want it to blow in the middle of your install - make sure to disconnect the battery beforehand, and give the system a few moments to make sure it is discharged. Also make sure to unplug the SRS connector (all SRS connectors are yellow) for the steering wheel before you start removing the bag.

You will need a T30 Torx driver to unbolt the bag from the wheel. IIRC, there are 2 Torx screws on each side of the wheel holding the bag on. You have to remove the cruise control button unit (if equipped) and the "cover strip" from the sides of the wheel to access them.

You will also have to have your SRS light reset by a dealership or body shop once the new bag is in.

 

how hard is it to remove one with the bag in it and everything....cause i have another car here im taking it outof to put in my car

 

not hard....like said....just be careful not to blow the bag....

they say to disconnect the battery and let it sit for a good 15-20 minutes (which ididnt do when removing)

but just a safety precaution.

its really easy to take out as well few screws on the side to remove the cover (airbag) and a big screw to remove the wheel

 

okay thanks guys....where is the harness for the srs located? under the hood?

 

there is a set of plugs behind the airbag that control your airbag, cruise control and your horn. just make sure you disconnect those before you try to pull the airbag out. also it is a good idea to store the airbag with the front on the ground just incase anything does happen. static electricity can set it off and im sure its not fun to have one blow up in your hands

if you remove the underdash cover under the steering wheel....when you look inside, under the dash, you'll see a Yellow harness there....unplug that harness and you should be good...the Yellow harness is the SRS harness....
