okay i got a 95 honda accord EX 5spd.. with 159k miles.. well what i realized is that when your crossing vtec engagement point 4k and up than you being to smell something out the exhaust.. i thought it smell like burning oil but my friend said no since the car doesn't smoke blue or anything like that.. he said its just exhaust fumes.. i said if it was exhaust fumes why if i'm not at W.O.T and just cruising i don't smell it.. he sell well Nate since the engine is spinning faster..more exhaust is being pushed out the muffler.. the theory seems right but i don't know if this normal. i don't any car would stink that bad.. my friend said it could be a bad cat.. i might think its true but the one i have in there now is bad.. it vibrates.. as in it gives u this buzzing sound when u engine brake or let the car coast...

anyone wanna help me out with this..

since it could be anything, why not do a compression check and starts from there?

 

rotten egg smell is always your cat going bad. If it smells pepperminty then it is coolant. It is not oil vapor you are smelling from an na sohc accord.

 

so its the cat thats i'm smelling making it smell like an exhaust leak?

okay this is getting to me.. the car doesnt' smoke or nothing nbut if i'm on the highway at W.O.Tyou get this nasty smell from the exhaust... i think its exhuast fumes..... exhaust fumes doesn't smell like gas right?


anyways i can fix it.. i don't have any muffler leak.. the cat is the only thing thats buzzing.... needs 2 be replace...

nobody smells what i smell.. okay than..

 

if its smells like rotten eggs its a cat problem.....if you smell oil, not gas burning, esp under WOT, its probably faulty valves....solution1: go with thicker NON SYNTHETIC oil+lucas oil treatment.....solution 2: compression test+ see if your valves need to be tightened/adjusted....either way you might solve the problem by using thicker oil like 10w40.....synthetics like to find little holes before even when things are fine.

I had the same prob. on my 2000 accord....i got head a little milled for added compression+cam, but used synthetic at first.....Before the vtec engages it drove with no leaks, but as soon as i hit the pedal hard and then stop at the next light i could smell burned oil coming from flex pipe, so the synthetic 5W3o i used was too thin under load, but as soon as i went with 10 40 + lucas....no problems, instant fix....gl with that

 

wat does burning gas smell like.. it doesn't smell like a scent of fuel but everyone say its a exhaust fumes and if so why should i smell it i want to make it stop..
