Default Notified to appear in court ... as a victim.

I just picked up today's mail and found a notice from the District Court of Maryland for Montgomery County, that I'm being notified to appear as a victim in Rockville on Jan 11th.

It says the location of the "trial" is ... (see supra).

The only thing I can think of is someone got found with parts from my stolen ITR.

What would you guys say in court if asked to "speak to the issue"?

Damn, I personally would say anything to help the state with there case.

But I could see how one wouldnt want to be involved with it. Its a hassle, you might have to see this guy and all his friends and family in person in the court room, and you risk causing problems after its resolved.

Probably lots of "yes" and "no" answers.

Is this your car VIN 123456 and plate ZYGSPD1?

Was your car parked at xxxx on dd/mm/yyyy?

When did you notice it was stolen?

Have you ever met <name> or do you have any relationship with <name>?

I don't expect you'll have an open forum to tell the court about how awesome the Type R is or how rare its parts are

Explain the rareness of the car and how they are basically irreplaceable and you would like to see them given the maximum punishment they can be handed.

edit : Damn!

Probably not, but it sure would be nice to be able to express your dissatisfaction with the judicial system and it's lax punishment of car thieves. Although it seems as though, in this case, something *might* be being done.

LOL! Should I drive the 98 out to the courthouse?

I'm curious, and will be going just to see what happens.
Good thing I don't have any pending warrants/tickets or anything.

Somehow I don't think a trial is the best forum to bring that up

We don't want to see Ed posting from jail, locked up for contempt

Agreed.

Not that you'd want to or have to elaborate more. It's a court trial, despite what the shows on TV make them look like, they are usually very boring, cut and dry.

But damn that's awesome Ed hope for the best, not such a bad holiday gift for you either

It would be a nice sense of justice, to go sort of hand-in-hand with my reinstatement at work.
Been an "interesting" few years.

The holiday "gift" to myself is having the new suspension and Volk TE-37's w/048's installed (w/cornerweighting) on 98 #450 at Curry's in mid-January.

P.S. All this really reminds me that I need to buy a house with a VERY large garage.

Been there, done that. I once appeared regarding my motorcycle license plate being stolen, no biggie. Call me if you have any questions.

HELL no! Return the parts and STILL press charges. Why would you want to let someone off for purchasing stolen parts? People who purchase stolen parts are the very root of the cause for theft to begin with.

Wow... it will be interesting to go and see the individual face to face who is partly if not fully responsible for your car being stolen.

Actually you should take the bus to court, that way you can steal the thief's car on your way home.

Have fun Ed. Dress nice. Make sure to shave, you look like a criminal. Maybe a haircut is in order too.

I've looked up the courthouse map, and called the D.A.'s office to see what my part is going to be in this.

Chris, criminals are probably more afraid of other "criminals" than ordinary citizens!

yeah i would appear in court and help out any way I can. I would think about those thieves faces when they had all the stolen things from your car. I'd tell the court the truth. This is your way to get them back and they can remember your face when the judge lays down the law and your satisfaction that justice was served.
