Default So I have to ask...has anyone fit a GT42 into the CRX/EF chassis?...

-Not that I am personally going to be installing a 42R into my CRX-

I am looking to persue a CRX/EF T4 specific manifold here soon, and am wondering if anyone has fit the 42R in the smaller chassis to date? I'm not talking about a cut up and hacked drag chassis, but an actual streetable setup. I'm not neccisarily building this manifold just to fit the 42R, but what I'm really wondering is what are my ultimate size limits going to be. I have no doubts that I'll be able to fit a 40R with the design I'm coming out with, but if it can fit the 42R...all the better.

So has anyone been able to accomplish this monumental task?

not going to happen without some fab work. BUT, fab work doesn't mean non-streetable. just depends on how crafty you are.

I have done it, matter of fact I have a manifold already put together for this application it just needs welded and coated. Its a pulse divided dual WG bottom mount manifold. wow that was a mouthful

btw this guy is for sale if youre interested

picture of the collector for this application

turbo shown in pic is a 67 but the 42R fits all the same

More pic

Because all the 'FAB' places on HT like to give their manifolds funny names for some reason we did the same thing. I believe Wade named this design the Whitney Houston because the Chuck Norris was already taken by another vendor.

Let me know if you want it, big turbo applications in EFs are rare and I'd like to move this thing.

doesnt look like a 42r compressor housing, is that a mock up turbo?

correct, as stated in the post the turbo shown is a 67. The 42r clears, granted its tight, but it fits in there.

Nice work. I'd be interested in see pics with the 42 and WG's installed. It seems like there would have to be some major head light modification to run the charge piping though. My idea was a little different.

lol thats fine if you think that. I know it looks tight in the pics but it fits. I don't have any reason to lie about it

as far as headlight mods they arent needed for charge piping if you back door the IC. That is how we do it in this app.

That makes sense...hehe. didn't even think of that.

So how do you have the WG's setup? would it be like Jesse's manifold where there is a 90 bend for each WG? I'm kinda curious as to how that would fit with the IC and traction bar setups.

...Anyone else actually using the GT42R in this chassis? (other than the K setup I've seen).

hey Bryson, Im sure you have read about it, but Garrett has an upgrade for the 40r and I belive it is a 4094R and it is pretty much rith between the 40r and 42r that fits in the 40r housing for clearance issues.

yeah, thats probubly what I'll end up using for the fab work actually. The 42 is just so damn big.

I know I can fit the 40R housing quite easily and still have enough room for a 4" DP...

I have the manifold in this pic for sale it has a gt4067 bolted fo it. Not sure if a 42r would fit might be worth a shot. I also have a four inch downpipe for sale. Its the one in the pic it has a 3 inch tight 90 to a four inch the rest of the way.
