Default Need SOme Opinions, Type R(dc2), Or Rsx-S, Or Civic Si

yes Ive searched and read the arguments civic si, vs rsx, but havnt seen them compared to a dc2.

Im in the market for another car, (just sold my ej8) The New car is gunna be a dd , I plan on hitting a few auto x and track sessions yearly. Based on this which car is overall bettter?(setting looks aside) I want something that is gunna be fun to drive on the track rather then a pain in the ***. I know the RSx+Si will be new , so warranty will be an issue, but i plan on modding(nothing major though)(boltons,+cams) so that kind throws it out the window. And I dont mind buying a used car, Id be nice to have something new but if the dc2 is that much better then i can sacrifice that.

Dc2
RSX Type S
Civic Si(06)

What do u guys think?

For DD, I say don't get the R. If it was not going to be your DD and you had another car then I would say get the R.

I've driven the RSX S and I own an ITR. I haven't driven the 06 Si yet, but on paper, it sounds like a solid car.

Personally, I favor the ITR over the RSX S. I don't know why either, it's just something about the DC2 that made me buy two more.

The K20 is a great motor, capable of making great power.

So, as a DD, I would go for an RSX S or the SI. I feel it's too much trouble owning an ITR as a DD. But between the RSX S and the Si, I'd go with the Si. But then again, I've never driven the Si, I'm only speaking from what I've read.

You will never be able to DD an ITR in the GTA, not to my knowledge at least.

If you're looking for something you're going to mod, I think you're better off with a car that's less expensive, like a GS-R or LS.

an itr will have the best feel and response in my book. I work at a Honda dealer and have drivin all three numerous times. The si is a very nice car and a good dd but feels very fake-like. The electronic throttle is probably the worst thing they did to this car. The power is there but not like an R. Rsx is probably the one I would buy for dd. good overall power, handle, and braking. it's a comfortable car and would be nice to drive regularly. The itr is definitely the best out of the three but would'nt want to drive it everyday. The car is gonna get beat up a bit driving it all the time and in my eyes thats the last thing I want for an ITR. Type R 4-lifeeeeeee

handling stock : ITR and 06 SI are very close, but ITR wins
straight line stock : 06 si
looks stock : ITR by far
ease of tuning and emissions and reliablity : RSX-S

modded handling: ITR by far
straight line modded: RSX-S
looks : they can all look nice, but ITR is most sporty looking and low to ground

theft rate: ITR sucks

i dont agree with that, there actually are a lot of pluses and minus's to each car

the ITR DOES have minus's even if you cant accept that

I think the ITR is just fine for daily driving. Not everyone agrees with me, but a lot of people do. In any case, there are already lots of topics about this on this forum.

I disagree with some of those.

Handling stock: ITR by far. New Si can't touch it, period.
Straight line stock: Both are close. Stock ITRs run mid-low 14's. Can the new Si do that?

More importantly, is the way the car feels.

ITR > RSX-S > New Si.

I hate the huuuuge cowl on the new Si and it feels very vague. RSX-S is a decent mix of the two. It retains a few old technoligies (throttle cable) but also a few new (like the powertrain, chassis reinforcements, etc).

Yes, pretty easily. Last time I was at the track a kid was running 14.3ish and he was stock (or maybe he had an exhaust, but nothing else).

His buddy was running high 13's with bolt-ons (I/H/E).

This was at Atco.

Overall, I think you'll be happy with either car as a DD. I'd probably feel safer with an RSX-s or an SI. R's are too high on the theft chain for my liking as a DD.

Why don't I vomit into a bucket, and then eat the contents of the bucket!?

they are 2 totally different cars, i ahve the new SI and its nothing like my R. the R is more raw the SI is nice and soft inside, its made more for DD than the R. personally i hate the drive by wire thats in the SI. ive also driven the last RSX S and i liked that car, and i was going to buy it till i found out the SI with nav was cheaper than the S.

what sold me on the civic over the RSX: Diff and Nav.

well you probably didnt drive one with the summer tire option.

what i stated was fact, not opinion, minus the looks part, thats personal preference

the new SI handles very well, the ITR is slightly better
the new SI DOES beat the ITR in a straight line, go do a highway pull against a stock SI vs a stock R and see for yourself. Especially once the SI is in the higher gears. The R is a dog in 5th.
The RSX-S doesnt handle as well as the new SI, and its the slowest of the pack. And has no LSD
Mods are the only thing the RSX-S has goin for it really
And the SI with the flash from honda makes the drive by wire feel less gay

i dont own any of the 3 cars currently, but my friends do and ive owned an R

R>SI>RSX for stock overall performance
R>RSX>SI for modded handling (not enough for the SI yet)
RSX>R>SI for modded engine performance
SI>RSX>R for DD

i find it amusing the difference of the cars between markets. our Civic Type-R's (what you would call an Si) doesnt come with an LSD from the factory. yet the JDM models which are made in the same building do get one, and a 20bhp bump over ours

just go out and drive an RSX-S and an Si and see which you prefer. i know i wouldnt use an R as a DD over there

Get the R, you won't regret it.

Daily driver is fine just make sure you get full coverage on the car. If it is stolen, so? Insurance pay for it.
