Default Project CX gets love....

Progress is slow with the little time I have, but it is slowly getting there. Here are a few shots that I snapped during the interior removal and prep. The cage goes in this week. Then it gets painted near the end of this month. Anyone want to buy a 00 cx swap complete with 11k miles? She is getting painted supersonic blue. comments welcome.

Grinding down the rear mount brackets. Those things look retarded sticking up in the air. Inside and outside getting fully sprayed same color.

That stuff you are peeling up in the third picture, is it sound insulation? I am not sure. If it is I did not know that was what it looked like. I am thinking about getting a CX hatch for a B20+VTEC swap. how much does it weigh now stripped like that?

but... white looks so nice! what kind of cage are you putting in? how many points? cromoly or mild steel? price? heheh sorry for the twenty questions. if you want to get your interior really clean and rid yourself of the residue left over from the sound deadening, use 3m adhesive remover. it works like a charm.

it gets crazy loud. you can hear every rock & peble you run over. if you take out the firewall mat, all the sound deadening, and seat belt / bolts, you get a good amount of weight out. too bad it will probably be added back, and then some with the cage.

Yeah. That is sound deadening material. I shaved 25 lbs measured on a digital scale from removeing that.

but... white looks so nice! what kind of cage are you putting in? how many points? cromoly or mild steel? price? heheh sorry for the twenty questions. if you want to get your interior really clean and rid yourself of the residue left over from the sound deadening, use 3m adhesive remover. it works like a charm.
The cage is an 8pt from http://www.chassisengineering.com. It is 4130 Chromoly with removable swingouts. I paid around 400 for it. The sound material came up very cleanly. Since I used the dry ice, there was very little goo that remained.

good choice on paint color
Yeah, I like your car. Looks good.

Yeah, I hopefully can get it on a scale soon so I can check the weight. The noise isnt too bad. It is kinda loud with out the headliner in there....but that is going back in as soon as it gets the cage and painted.

Did you put ice on top of sound deadening(sp?)? have u tried using a heat gun to take it off? if u heat it up enough u can scrap it off like tar, what ever is left over..just heat it up and use a towel to wipe it.
Yeah, that is dry Ice. The reason I didnt go with the heat gun is that goo that is left over. With the ice method, there is minimal goo left over.

Because there are two white EKs in my town. White is too common. Spoon cluster will look nice.

are you installing it yourself? if you are much respect, but if you arent that's still kool how much was shipping?

oh yea before you tack it up make sure you give yourself enough room for the hard to reach spots for when you weld... like the a-pillar to halo. there's a couple really good posts on how to do those spots in the competition forum. if you want i can recap for you.
