Default Just Dyno'd- freaky numbers for my altitude

I just got back from the dyno. Keep in mind, these are uncorrected numbers from 5300 ft above sea level.

My best of 3 runs was 117.5hp with just an AEM CAI.

A stock '01 Integra Type-R hit 118.2hp up here as his best.

I looked at another dynograph of a GSR with intake and headers, and he did 110.2, so either I have a good strong motor, or it's just possessed.

Yeah this altitude hurts bigtime. Stock LS1 Camaros/Firebirds/Corvettes dyno only 240hp up here stock. I saw a stock Civic Si not even break 100hp a few weeks ago as well.

Hehe speaking of turbo, the turbo project starts in a week. I'll be ordering most of the parts then..

It doesn't matter if you have FI or NA, your performance will still suck at high elevations. Here in Denver, stock ITR's run 15.9! I hear the performance of FI cars suffers just about as much as NA. I have a friend that took his Cav Z24 out to Kansas City and ran a 15.6, but he'd run high 16's or low 17's here.

12 psi atmospheric pressure really sucks.

wow, so does that mean your car is as slow as a single cam civic? (in the high altitude i mean), i'd guess nitrous comes in real handy when your up so high

Probably, but those are even slower up here. All cars are effected, so a single cam Civic still doesn't have a chance in hell of winning against an Integra, regardless of the elevation.

Actually, it does matter. If you have a turbo, the wastegate will stay closed until full boost is created. Unless, of course, the atmosphere is that thin...

Agreed...boost can solve you altitude queries...as for your #'s....who cares what a ITR does up there..117FWHP sucks...I dyno'd in the 140's with just a CAI

turbo lag will be 10x worse than it is a sea level.

silver lining to the thin air, you don't have as much drag caused by the air as we do down here at sea level. be happy

At first, I would think that would be the case, but... There is less air, so the turbo has to work harder/longer to build that boost level. So, it is less efficient and has more lag than at sea level. I've heard that FI cars don't lose quite as much power as NA cars do up here, but it's close.
