B16A distributor problems
I have came to the conclusion that my car may need a new distributor. My cars symtoms are not starting all the time (sometimes no spark at all) the car runs shitty, misfiring and bogging down and stalling out and then taking a while to start up. The car seems to get spark sometimes and then not get spark at other times. Has anyone ever delt with this on a b16a, or do you guys think this could be something else other than the distributor. I know it couldnt be the wires or plugs becasue they are brand new and in factory spec. Also, if something is wrong with the distributor and i take the cap off, is there something visually i would be able to see? Thanks guys.
sounds like the icm (ignition control module), there is no way to directly test it and it is usually not a visible problem. best bet is to replace it with a known good and see
you say it doesnt spark all the time... but you should be 100% sure, because i can tell you that your problem sounds like a failing PGM FI main relay (big fuel pump relay for hondas). They are very sensitive when old, sometimes they work, sometimes they dont. Alot of people i know keep a spare relay in their car... haha. Anyways, If you really don't get spark all the time then that's probably your problem, but it sounds to me like you have a PGM fi relay problem.
