Default Dyno'd my car, slightly disappointed.

B16a sleeved to 84mm.
9.1 compression
GSR cams
t3-t04e 60 trim turbo.
3 inch DP
Revving to 8500rpm

19psi (93 octane)= 337WHP 250WTQ

AFRs were 11.3 all the way across. Timing was at 16degrees in the end.
The graphs show each pull the power peaks @ 7550 RPM then falls off from there.

Guess i need more cam?

I know 11.3afr is a tad rich but I want it safe for daily driving on 93 octane.

I was hoping more about 360whp.
The turbo is 2 years old, with atleast 60K miles on it, isnt in the best of shape.

yeah. seams a little low. i made 349whp on a b20/b16, with stock block, gsr cams, 8.8ish cr, at only 10psi. and useing a t3/t04e 60-1.

have you compression checked or leak down the motor?

yea, leak down was 6-10% all the way.
compression was 160 all the way across also.

Maybe the Turbo needs a rebuild? Check Vac Lines?

Just throwing ideas out there.

all the lines are great. Maybe its just a shitty old turbo and cams. i am going to check my valve adjustment this weekend and do another leakdown.

seems weird that the power peaked at 7550. I'm no expert but i thought b16's loved to be revved out.

well no **** they liked to be revved, but why did you even mention that? If power peaks at 7500 then why would it make ANY difference how high i rev it? Power will keep falling guy. It isnt going to magically pick up power at 10,500 RPM

I had a similar problem...

I made 339 on 20 psi with a 57 trim. I was pretty disappointed.

A month later I checked the turbo, and I had ridiculous shaft play.

I say turbo is the culprit.

yeah i understand that it will keep falling. I thought that the power normally peaks higher in the rpm range then 7550, thats why i thought it was strange. I didnt say "why didn't you rev that thing to 10.5K???"

yea thats pretty low for 19psi....

i made 320 on a ls/vtec with pistons and rods with a MILD tune, wastegate set for 8psi, creepin to 12... only A/F, didnt touch ignition at all..
91 octane, and a garrett t304E 60 trim

well if you didnt touch the ignition, then you had a **** ton of timing with boost to aid you. the LS bottom end being larged than mine for stroke reasons, does make a decent amount of change.

I am sure its the turbo. I am doing a Leakdown in the next few hours. Stay tuned

on 19psi you should be closer to 400whp for sure...at least 385-390 check for boost leaks of course.

Definitely low.

Is your base timing set correctly? Cams are TDC?

base idle timing is 16 deg.
cams are at TDC. lol

car hasnt been dyno tuned ever. ALways street tuned. Saying, the car never been tuned on a dyno to correctly tune for ignition and torque, etc..

I would look more in the direction of the cam gears. You wouldn't even guess how many people say their car is lacking power and it almost always is the actual cam timing.

they are lined up fine and the holes from the cam to the cam cap rails all fall in line

160 psi seems low for 9:1, in any case a lot of power probably could be extracted with more tuning and possibly fiddling with cam timing as 93turbob16 said.

yea i feel if i had a tuner who knew how to actually correctly use cam timing on the dyno i would have more power. The motor was built on the loose end just because thats how the builder always does it incase you ever wanna make big power on it later on.

but yea, if my car didnt have just a base generic tune for timing, and actually was tuned for my cars power curve, more power would result.

I don't know but maybe you have too much timing after 7500 rpms.
Did you try to retard the timing a little to see if you gained power?
