Default EDELBROCK COLLECTOR MOD

jUST PICKED UP A JG EDELBROCK 2 PIECE HEADER 6653 FOR THE TYPE R AND WOULD LIKE TO ATTEMPT THE collector mod. My question is that since I have a stock ITR exhaust set up with what I believe to be a 2.36" piping would it be better to use a 2.5" or 2.25" merge collector or use a 2.36 merge collector???? please any suggestions

usually standard pipe is measured outside diameter(O.D) so the O.D. of a 2.5" pipe would equal the 2.36" inside diamter(I.D.). this is also depending on wall thinkness.

i just measured(with calipers) one of the magnaflow 2.5" J bends i have in stock and and the O.D was 2.5" and the I.D was 2.36".

im also doing the same mod to my edelbrock header,im using the mangoflow stainless pipe(2.5") for my new collector into a T1R test pipe into mt T1R exhaust, so it will all be the same size from the collector out.

as soon as my T1R test pipe shows up im gonna do a back to back dyno comparision of this mod to see what the gain/losses actually are.

magnaflow is an exhaust company that also makes universal stainless mandrel bends http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/02smooth.asp. i know you only need a small straight piece but i was just stateing that this was the pipe i measured since thats what i use at the shop for exhaust systems and intercooler pipe.
