where can i find a fiberglass rear hatch and a plexiglass window for my CRX? i know, it's not legal, blah blah blah. but it's light especially compared to my stock one. and, i'm not worried about not being able to open it. that's fine by me..

 

erebuni sells a conversion hatch that is fiberglass for about 1700 i think... and King motorsport sells a replacement fiberglass hatch for about 300 i think

Ya ok $1700 for a piece of fiberglass that took $5 to make.

 

is that no glass? just full fiberglass? or is there a hole for glass?

I'm making one at the moment. I'm not sure why it wouldn't be legal. I should have a mold done at the end of the week and have the part done within a week of that. If there is enough interest I'll do a group buy to start things off...
The stock hatch w/glass and no wiper motor weighs 50 pounds, I anticipate the carbon fiber or fiberglass (I'll make two versions) weighing in around 15.
It'll be bolt in, with rear brake light, and accept the struts on either side as well.
I'll post pics as it progresses into something worth seeing

i didnt even bother with the fiberglass part. I just went all lexan, with aluminum framing.
Drove around with it for 3 yrs. The cops acutally liked it. Everytime i got pulled over for other stuff, the thought it was cool haha.

Only drawback was that it cant open and it would leak on certain places.. but hey thats the price you pay for a 5lbs hatch.
