smoking past 6500 rpm
quick question guys. My car uses a little oil, about a quart every 2000 miles and Ive noticed some smoking out of my exhaust when i rev past 6500 rpm while driving. Im thinking its rings but im not too sure. Also since ive removed my upper timing cover to install an adjustable cam gear ive noticed a slight whining noise coming from the timing belt area. it almost sounds like a have a supercharger. Im thinking water pump. any help appreciated
i think that burning a qt of oil every 2k is a little more than *little*..but for certain, uve got a problem..most likely the rings..the sound might be normal..the cover u remove d may just have muffle d the noise previously not heard..u did say that u noticed it after installing the cam gear..
...if u like taking trips up to 6k range often..change to syn. oil if u havent already done so..prevents thermal breakdown of oil...which mean fried rings too
