crx tranny
my si tranny from my crx broke the piece where the throw bearing goes broke so now im looking for another tranny and i already searched and everything to make sure i dont end up getting a dx tranny but what will happen if i did get a dx tranny what changes in the si and dx cause i read that some dx tranny's say PL3-3000 too big bearing case whats the only thing or things that change from both
You've got a 90 Si, so you want a 90 or 91 transmission. Some but not all of the 89s will work; the 88s will not. The clutch disks and the splines on the input shaft are different, so the easiest way to make sure it works is to get a 90 or 91.
The Si has the lowest gearing. The gears themselves are actually the same as the std/DX, but the ring and pinion ratio is different so the overall gearing is shorter. The car will drive fine with the DX trans, and in fact it will get better freeway mileage that way. My old 90 Si wound up with a DX trans for a while, no problems. Except acceleration, which was a trifle slower.
