Civic Type-R Sedan Thread
Okay I've heard that they're going to be available in Japan in mid-2007 and in Europe around end-2007. Anybody have any other info on pricing for this model? I know it has 220hp and 151lb/ft torque stock which is outstanding..
I am praying that they might be available in the US as a 2008 model..here are some pics:

That was the civic used as a safety car when Formula 1 rolled in for the Japaneese Grand Prix. There was a lot of hype about it but thats pretty old news.

Be patient. This is only my speculation but I suspect the HCTR might be made available in the US by the 2008 or 2009 model year if the '07 Mugens sell out fast and/or there are more Si Sedan sales than Honda expected.
I think it largely depends on Honda's manufacturing capacity for these: I see them being a big hit in Japan so if it doesn't make its way to the US anytime soon it might be that they're just doing too well in Japan
This car looks like a dream FF sport compact: all of the fun of an ITR in Sedan form with a significant power boost in stock.

So this is the Type-R most people are referring to? I guess I will go eat my crow pie after going on a rant about how the British Type-R really isn't that much of an improvement on our Si, this is a whole different ballgame.

I just wish they would make a type R in 2 door form for the states, the 4 door Si is cool and definitely very fun to drive...don't get me wrong...but the demand of the 4 door is pretty low here in MD, we've had 2 of them sitting at our dealership for about 2 weeks now, and I've only had 1 customer on one. We definitely had a good time test-driving it though ;-)
I found some footage of it on the Japan Honda website.

i think all sedans have the same front end minus the body kit in all other countries except north america...so i think a type r conversion for the sedan is possible..
yeah, if you have a JDM civic all you have to do to make it look like a type r is change the front bumper/grill, sideskirts, rearbumper, and wing to type r.
Here's a a pic I snapped a few days ago at my local Honda dealership, I got a brochure for the new Civic R and I checked it out on the lot, very nice indeed even on the 18 inch rims..

Couple of other R's on the lot for sale that day too...
