Default ? with install on ground control with koni yell sturts

this weekend i put my ground contol in with koni struts and it said to put the top part of the bump stop from the opld strut on to the new strut and also to use the dust cover fronm the old strut and put in on the new strut ,to cover the strut rod, anyone do this and if so what did they do to do it, b/c the dust cover hole at the top will not fit over the new strut rod, so im thoinking of drilling a bigger hole, and the bump stop i guess u just slice it and maybe throw some tape or something, we didnt no how important it was and were running out of time so throw them on and toolk it off the lift and its just sitting at frinds shop and im trying to figure out if i neew to throwe this stuff on..

Follow the instructions to the letter provided by the GC instructions. Cut/drill your bumpstop and dust cover to fit the Koni's. DON'T install the GC's without the bumpstops and dust covers! Your springs will end up cutting up the spring isolaters from the springs movement. Those things cost $15/less shipping each to replace.

Drilling out the stuff works fine. You don't have to remove too much material...

I've heard that newer GC kit's may have a plastic/fiber-based spring isolators. If that's the case, you may be able to get away with NOT using the dust boot. If your isolators are made with that soft rubber material, use the dust boots. The springs easily dig into them and start ripping them apart. All of my four isolators got torn after driving on some fairly rough roads. The dust boot keep the isolators centered and prevents excessive movement.
