hey guys,got skunk2 coilovers like 2 days ago,the ride is really stiff,there ride height is the highest on the coilovers which is a inch on my 99 civic si,any suggestion without changeing springs?

 

get custom spring rates.

 

Ground control lets you buy any spring rate you want.

I know how u feel, I'm using skunk 2 adjustable springs, man the ride is definitely stiff...

 

I have Koni Yellows and GC coilovers, 550 front and 350 back. I find it very streetable and good on the track (might be a little low for serious track guys). I'm unimpressed with most Japanese sourced coilovers and shocks.

Like we said, you can get springs with custom rates. I suggest in the range of 10k front and 8k rear.

JHP has some Brand New full coiovers right now for $450.

 

Yeah I have skunk coils and cambers with stock shocks on my 00 SI , the stock shocks have 100XXX miles on them and I love the way my car rides , its smooth on the streets and highway but my only complant is pulling in and out of parking lots and **** like that, its so stiff that when the body flexes my wheels come of the ground pulling in and out of places there is just no spring travel. Other then that I think there great

he said the ride is stiff.. the stock ots is 8/6k.. u could order custom rates from eibach which makes the springs for gc..

 

I love my skunk2 springs, I have had 3 sets so far, and they are FAR better than my eibach ground control setup I had a year ago. I like how stiff they are, instant rebound, no leaning etc. I love the feel I get from them when cornering etc, great product in my opinion. If you want a cadillac ride, dont lower your car. All I hear is people bitching about skunk2's product, Im sick of it, yes they are stiff, research would have told you that.

 

 

Yeah i saw those, they were about 469 right? But how good could a full coilover set up be for that price ya know? Some guy on HT was a distributor for some coilover co. and was selling full set ups for 600 including shipping if i recall correctly. I think he said they could even adjust the spring rate for your type of driving.

 

GC's are $400 for the coilovers and springs and another $120 each for the shocks. You can spec the spring rates at the time of purchase or just use the default rates they recommend.

Stock front spring rates are 3-4 KG on a civic which is, 190-230 lbs/in. I'm pretty sure the default GC spring rates are 350 lbs/in (or there abouts) which is 6.25 KG.

The nice thing about Koni's over any other coilover is, if you blow one, you're never more than $120 away from a new shock AND you can have them revalved with custom damping.

A $450 coilover setup's going to be a chinese made POS that won't last a year.
With GC's you can go to the nearest race track and do a reasonable job on the corners.
