Default Ferrea Sodium Filled Valves

Anyone running them ? Is it worth the extra money over a cheaper Ferrea valve ?

This is an interesting topic actually. The new Audi or some german company has this in their cars. I read up a little bit about it, but don't remember too much about them.

Sorry didn't asnwer the question, if I find it I will post some more info.

Sodium filled valves have been around since the 70s--probably even earlier-nothing new--I understand the Sodium absorbs heat--its used on the exhaust, I think?

yes it basically liquifies at high temps and sinks the heat away on the exhaust valves. high heat cycling on exhaust valves is one reason why they are succeptible to failure.

I believe they make them for intake valves also.

they are most helpful on exhaust though, to cool the valve stem. intake valves dont get as hot, and might not even be able to liquify the Na.

Are they any lighter than ferrea's other valves (besides titanium obviously) ?

It really doesn't matter what they are in. The question was why are they better or the same as the normal one.

I actually didn't know they were around that long in production cars atleast, I understand the concept and thought it was pretty inventive.

you kinda missed what i was saying. im saying if mitsu, a huge manufacturer deems them worth putting in a production vehicle then the benifits are obviously there. the difference however big or small is the question, and you wont find out iwthout a back to back dyno, which, youre nto going to get.

Porsche also used them in their aircooled motors...not sure about their newer stuff. I wanna say (i think i read somewhere) that they arent serviceble. If u need to do a valve job, you have to buy new ones. Someone correct me if im wrong.

So are they lighter than the other series ferrea offers for hondas ? Or is the heat displacement the draw to these valves ?
