Default 00 B16 USDM/P72/ Bogging on Highway

Ok here is the deal. Motor and Trans is USDM B16 out of 00 Si. Ecu is P72. What year I dunno.

Here is the deal:
While driving home from buying the car is was doing about 80 - 95 MPH. I have no idea ath RPM Range due to no tach yet. After a few minutes of a steady speed ~ 85MPH the motor felt as if it was being help back or maybe an engine brake applied. If I floored it it would "clear up" and drive fine again for a while. ALSO a couple time while in 5th the motor would drop RPM to idle and I would have to step on the clutch to bring the RPM back up. If I left it in gear and accelerated the RPM wouldnt climb from what I could hear.

I am thinking that maybe the ECU is putting the car into a "LIMP" mode? MAybe since it is for a GSR(right?) maybe it is flooding or loading up on fuel? The car also had 2 CEL Codes: 1) SPeed Sensor Malfunction 2)Knock Sensor Malfunction. It also doesnt always go into VTEC. I was told from the Speed Sensor code. I need to check to codes tomorrow to see if they come back since last I cleared them.

INFO:
96 Civic DX HB
MOTOR: USDM 00 B16 Motor and Trans
ECU: P72 GSR(I was told) Year Unknown
HARNESS: 96 Civic DX HB
---From what I can tell the only modification is 2 Wires going to the ECU.
MODS: OEM 00 Si Airbox, JDM ITR Header, Test Pipe, OEM B Pipe Axle Back Muffler

Thanks in Advance for anyone who can point me in the right direction.

Get a P28, convert to OBD-1, and get a tune.

Also check your spark plugs, I had a similar problem and once I replaced them it was all good.

How does one do that? Chip the ECU? or Do I need a Jumper Harness? Both? Please give me more info this is my first Honda. I come from NIssan Land where nothing is interchangable.

isn't the p72 a GSR ecu? that has a 2-stage intake manifold, correct? I'm guessing the computer is looking for sensors that are not currently under your hood. get the correct ecu as stated above.

sorry - more info

check out moates.net for hardware and pgmfi.org for software.

search and read. it will take a LONG time, but the info is there.

there are other members on this board that can hook up exactly what you need, just get familiar with the Search function.

i did it, so can you! trust me it took over a year to finish my build but I came out the other side much more educated and ready for another better build.

good luck.
