Default Trans making noises!

OK, when my car is on, and in nuetral, it makes a noise, I cant explain it. a whine? WHen I press the clutch, the sound stops, but it fades as if whatever is making the noise; is making the noise only when it spins. Now IM 95% sure it has something to do with my clutch/trans?

No grinds, clutch grabs 100%, 100% stock d15z, stock trans. it has made this noise for some time, but it has gotten slightly worse within the past 3 months. This is not a horrbile sound, you dont notice it untill I press in the clutch and u hear the noise fade away.

Throw out bearing? I dont know jack about trans...would chaning my MTF help? or should I just drive it till it dies, and replace?

Same thing is happing with my civic and i had a trany shop look at it and he said its the sinkros ( i dont think i spelled it right) bad thing about it is you'll have to find a cheap tranny swap or pay him like 700$ to fix it ( im going for a swap)

If the noise goes away when the clutch is depressed then its most likey your throw out/release bearing. I had this problem on my y8 tranny so i replaced the bearings. Problem solved.

Input shaft or main shaft bearings. I had that same problem a year ago and replaced both as they usually go out hand in hand. If you want a new, better-geared tranny or clutch, flywheel etc. Now is the time to do it.

I trust this man 100%.

Any idea how long it will last? If I don't run it to hard...not like it can run that hard anyway.

i let my input shaft bearing go for about a little over a year. the noise eventually got worse you could hear it making noise while accelerating. dumb idea i know i just didnt have the time between school and work to fix it. basically i got on it real hard one day towards the end of that year and my clutch started slipping real bad (brand new clutch btw). when we went to replace the transmission and clutch my old clutch was drenched in oil. basically what i am trying to say is if i wasnt such a lazy bum i could have saved my self the cost of a new transmission/clutch and flywheel surfacing. because of a $15 bearing going bad. listen to bense fix it before it gets worse
