Default Sound System

Hey guys, I looked around a little bit but could quite find what I needed, but I'm installing an in-dash dvd player and some subs/amp, I already have pretty much all the wiring stuff needed, the amp kit, the wiring harness, is there anything else I need? Anything I need to do with the stock sub/amp?

Well if your replacing everything would you need to bypass the amp? or just run your new wires....

personally i'd run everything fresh if ripping ALL the oem stuff out and replacing it with totally new equip

Looks exactly like the kit I bought except it has an option for the single DIN, since the dvd player is one takes one slot. And good call on running new wires. Didn't know why I didn't of that.

its more of a pain BUT just run them where the existing ones are and you "should" be fine.

I love the "should", it's always the "should" that screws ya. But yeah, I'm hoping, I just got the DVD player in and I'm planning on putting it in sometime later this week.... maybe taking some pictures doing a DYI on it. You suggest wire connects or solder?

Dual XDVD8181 (I have an obsession with Dual, I don't know why). But yeah the amp is for highs and mids, and I've got everything pretty much figured out, the only thing I'm worried about now is if I absolutely "NEED" an amp bypass harness.

Oh. I have that same dvd in dash. I couldn't find anything to make the steering wheel controls work. I looked everywhere.

This ****'s getting a bit complicated for my blood..... I'm almost close enough to get everything professionally done.... but I still haven't justified the costs to myself.

I had best buy do it. I was going to do the amp for the mids and highs but they said that you have to run all new wires. (Might of just been them trying to get me for a couple hundred more dollers)

so I just had them tap into the stock amp for the mids and highs and ran a seperate amp for my sub that way I could use the SW controls on the head unit.

Okay, just in case anyone ever needs to do an install for an in-dash dvd player/ regular stereo + amp + subs, these are all the things you're going to need:
1. Amp, subs [sub box], sub wiring, head unit (obviously)(could be found on crutchfield.com
2. Amp wiring kit. (could be found on crutchfield.com)
3. Dash Kit (for aftermarket radio, i.e. OEM navi dash, or scoche dash kit for 06 civic) (found on Crutchfield.com)
4. Metra Wiring Harness for 06 civic (found on Crutchfield.com)
5. Amp bypass harness (found on crutchfield.com)
6. Antenna adapter (found on crutchfield.com)
7. misc. tools and soldering iron (for decent connections)

And in terms of connecting everything, that's up to y'all, I can't recommend any specific method, but it's pretty self explanatory. This is just meant to provide a list of items you would need to do a proper install without jackin' anything up. Hope this helps others as it did me.

nope. best buy said there were no parts that would work with that dvd player to make the SWC work. He said if I buy a kenwood or pioneer they can.
