H22 Adjustable Cam Gears, which isn't prone to breaking
Hey guys,
I've search the forums, but I haven't really found anything conclusive.
I always dreaded those adjustable cam gears in fear of slippage or the worse, breakage. I have seen a set of Golden Eagle cam gears break on a b-series which left the guy with a bunch of bent valves on a built head.
I really would like to avoid it at all costs, but since I am turbo'd, dialing out the overlap would be able to help me make some moderate gains and help with efficiency.
So the question stands, what adj. cam gears have you guys used that seems to hold up well. I've only really looked into the Skunk2 gears (not the pro series), any thoughts?

With most of the aftermarket ones I've seen the problem has been due to overtorquage of the gears, so I'd say a proper install is your biggest concern. Also you might want to post this in the all motor section since this is a sort of general question and there are a lot more gearheads over there with relevant info/personal experiences.

Yea, I've read up on a few threads concerning that, it does make sense, since most of these aftermarket ones are made of aluminum.
However I'd still like to see what most people are running and how their impression of the gears are in long term useage.

AEM (3bolts) works for me on my turbo car. I have skunk2(6 studs) on my nitrous car. IMO if you know how to tighten them correctly you will not have any problems

Those are the same cam gears that a ton of companies rebadge their name on.
I run AEM 5 bolts on the majority of set-ups that we do. I have used the Skunk2's also flawlessly in the past.
