i have a 89 ef sedan with a d16z6 and p28.. a friend (2002 jetta) and i were chasing each other on the 95 when my car just stop acclerating for like 5 seconds ... i believe i was at like 5k rpm and then it was like the car wasnt in gear or something.. all the gauges were reading right then after a few a seconds the car was right back to normal again.... anybody know whats up
hmm...could be a lot of things, could be fuel pressure regulator goin out, could be an ignitor goin out, coil goin out....sounds more like a fuel sorta thing tho...did it just do it once or multiple times?
maybe you got behind the VW and sucked in all his nasty overcatalyic converted diesel gas fumes and made your car st st st st stutter.....hahaha....nah id start by getting a haynes manual and testing some sensors like the ignitor and ignition coil and stuff like that, if not try checking your fuel pressure regulator or smell for fuel leaks in the bay
are u running regualr gas in the car? sometimes you need higher octane for compression and if theres no compression the car bogs and if you keep your foot on the gas you end up screwing up your valves.

Any other symptoms? Your engine just could have been overheating on you, especially if that 5,000 RPM happened to be around 105mph in 5th gear...

that makes absolutely no sense, lol, knocking due to low octane fuel happens at low rpms not high rpms, because there is more time between compression strokes for molecules to collide
