Default this question sucks but i have to ask...

had to replace the manual transmission on my 97 accord EX on way home from buying it. new one has 5k miles on it and i replaced the clutch as well. although this question makes me sound like an idiot, i just dont want a repeat:

how do you shift correctly and efficently so as to not damage the transmission.

i generally shift at < 3 rpms. 1st and reverse i start letting off the clutch at 1.5 and sometimes it jolts. also going from 1st to 2nd sometimes it jolts unless i treat it like im going into 1st (let off the clutch slowly and apply gas). any advice would be appreciated.

shift for normal driving between 2500-3000
clutch fully in, bring off the gas
shift
I let the clutch slowly back out and gas it up

for normal driving you gotta slip the clutch between shifts in order to obtain smooth engagement.

Yes, the replies above sound correct -- even the owner's manual makes the point of a gradual release of the clutch.
