good started welder/kit for under 1000?

Default good started welder/kit for under 1000?

just getting into this welding, what is a good welder that can be had for under 1000 ready to use? i was looking at some craftsman stuff, figured some of you would know a good welder to start with.

if youre looking for a mig, the miller 110 is a very nice welder for the money, its around 500

a grand wont get you much of a new TIG, but you could score a used Miller TIG from eBay for about that... but it wont have much for supplies. Either save up a little more, like $1500, and buy a newer TIG and supplies, or spend $500 on a MIG and have lots left over for supplies, etc.

Remember, buying a tank will run $150 or so for an 80CF, and a refill will run ~40$ or so. A rental/lease will be $10/month for a 120CF, and refills wont be much more.

A GOOD helmet (autodimming) will run at least $100. Good gloves and some wire to get you started will be another $50.

from what i hear its best to start out with a mig, so thats what im looking for, so one can be bought for around 500 new? any recomendations on what type/brand? thanks btw.
