Default Nooby break-in

I bought my car from the dealership with somethin in the area of 15 miles on it. I hear different things about proper break in period and break in procedure (some say 1500, others 2000). i pushed it a few times in 2nd and 3rd gear, up to about 7,000 RPM just to see how it accelerated... and this was when i had maybe 500-600 miles on it. my question is, will this affect my car's future performance/reliability, and what do you guys here at HT use as a break-in guideline. TIA

Run it like you would normally i hit vtec with 15 miles on the car vary the speed and rpm's and you will be fine dont be afraid to have fun with it just dont redline each gear all day for the 1st 600 miles good luck !

Yea there are 2 totally different camps-

1 says baby it so it breaks in and 2 says beat on it like you normally would and it would build up tolerances better.

I really haven't seen concise info on either besides what the user manual says.

Personally I'd put in one of those magnetic attachments onto your oil filter in the beginning so it picks up any metal shavings that come off during your break in.

I plan on babying mine.

It's your car, do what you want. But, if you don't want any warranty hassles, the owner's manual details the proper break in proceedure quite nicely. It also includes a lot of other helpful information, like what the 'maintanence required' or oil life indicator means.

Well.. It's really hard to say which one is better..
I tried both, on my Si.. First time = babying.
After my accident (got a new engine)
I drove it like it was stolen
IMO, doesn't really matter NOW.. Can't say about long term..

Drive it like you intend to drive it. If you are just waiting to hit Vtec, do it already. The car needs to see all different variations of rpms. It is your car, so do what you want.

Personally, I hit vtec with about 1.3 miles on mine leaving the dealership and I've ran a 14.6 stock. It seems that if you beat on it, you will get a little more power out of it, but I can't say for sure as I haven't had mine dynoed yet. Just going on other people's dyno sheets and break-ins.
