Modified Exhaust Ticket, check it..
Ok, earlier this month I was pulled over by the local police and cited for CODE 27151 modified exhaust. I did some research and found this:
http://info.sen.ca.gov/pub/bill/sen/...ended_sen.html
If you look under 27151, you'll see that it says my car can't exceed 95db. The police did no sort of measure of my db level either.
Here's my options, fight it and maybe get out of the ticket. Or pay 77 bucks and it will clear the ticket.
What do you guys think?

Always fight it. I should use that too because I got a ticket for modified exhaust when the cop didnt even hear it. I'm gonna read that carefully and see if I can use it. good luck with your ticket.

I don't know why theres so many crossed out lines. I assuming things that were changed during the amending process.
The exhaust is custom cat-back with a uni-DTM muffler.
I'm gonna try to fight it, cause I think with that I got, is good.

Check your city law, In oklahoma city a cop or a witness has to show up to argue against you in court date on ticket. If no one shows up then it gets dismissed

if you go and fight it, it will be tossed out because the officer did not have an actual meter to test the level of how loud it was, this is also what an actual cop told me, they always give exhaust tickets because no one actual goes to fight them
exactly, he has absolutely no proof you even have modified exhaust on your vehicle unless he took a decible measurement at the time of th citation, some cops are real jerks about it but for a ticket like that he probably wouldn't even show up in court since he has 0 proof. Goodluck!!
**** I have an N-1 and I'm scared now
But yeah get a silencer (or borrow one just for the court case) and fight that ****, put the damn po-po in their place

ouch..sucks man..but in Cali...anything modified is a ticket...cops serve no good...while they're giving us tickets...another theif is walking away..
Join the military...we're exempt from registering our vehicle in California therefore, we cant be ticketed for a law that our registered state does not have.
I fought mine and won. I said the cops lights went on before a took off from the red light, so hear wasn't able to hear the exhaust. That his ears can not tell what 95 sounds like. No sound test was performed. Then the law up in Washington says that a modified exhaust is illegal. I claim modified if drilling holes, dropping a muffler or welding a muffler...i put a brand new exhaust system on from head to tip. The judge dropped it and said i was right.

well this year in California the law had changed on Modified exhausts with can be defined as moddified for Amplification or emmisions... 2001 was the last year it was Fix-a-ticket..so you either have to fight the ticket or pay up..and just to say for all those with GREDDY exhaust.. greddy does do free decibel tests of your car which will include your VIN and Lic plate number to verify it is your car..and if you go to court you have to show CARB exemption paper as well has decibel reading paper of your car..becuz he can state that yes it is legal for emmisions but the CARB number does not state it is under 95decibels thus any muffler besides a OEM muffler is basically a modified exhaust go figure =P
my .02 cents... P.S LAKERS ROCK =P

A buddy of mine did a write up on this subject, with the help of Josh Jacquoit (sp?) from Sport Compact Car.
Exhaust woes
Well here is California's take on it. Not sure if it applies in all 50 states. But it'll give you an idea.
