Default Key stuck in ignition cylinder (auto>manual swap 2000 Civic).

I did the auto>manual swap according to these instructions ( https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1337459 ). Everything was fine the first time I started and drove the car, so I parked it and when I came back a week later, I couldn't pull the key out after starting the car. I checked the three wires that are in this picture and they were still spliced, but I can't pull the key out and the car doesn't start anymore. How can I trouble shoot to find out what the hell is wrong. Thanks in advance.

I wish that was it. But it's not. I got the key out and I might be having problem getting it out because it's kinda beat up. But it still doesn't start the car. The battery is charged, starter fuse is ok. What else can I check?

reading your thread it seems you wired up 3 wires (if i'm wrong please correct me). if that is the case then that is your problem. it should be only the 2 thickest black wires. one has a red stripe the other has a white. connect these 2 together and you will be able to start your car and remove the key.

and why would you wait a week to remove the key?

He put the 2 thick black and the blue wire together, as the instructions from Luserkid's writeup states:
"Now this is pretty easy, but then again i love electrical. But all you need to do is connect 5 wires total. One of the plugs that you disconnected from the auto shifter is a 14P plug. Cut the plug off. Your going to have a 2 thick blk wires and 1 blk/blu wire, Solder those 3 together. Those together lets your car think its in park and releases the key and starts your car. Important "

If you're correct, some1 might want to bring this up with Luserkid for editing purposes.

I did have 3 of them spliced (as it says in that FAQ thread) and it started the car before. I reread my post, and it is a little confusing. The point I was trying to get across is that the car was standing still (without the key in ignition) for a week and when I came back (started, drove) I couldn't pull the key out and it wouldn't start any longer. I'll go and try to do the two wires, but I think I tried that before and it was a no go. Thanks for suggestions thus far.

there is another way that this can be done. just coneect the auto shifter harness back in and tuck it away. if you hate electrical (like i do), then this is your easiest and most stress free way.

can't pic it right now, but it's quite simple. once you remove you center console, you should be able to see the harness i'm talking about.

so philosofy, your idea is to remove the auto shifter aseembly, but leave the harness that the auto shifter is connected to?

when doing this swap i've only connected the 2 thickest wires. being that this is what tricks the car to being in park. allowing you to start the car and remove the key.

yes, this will make life alot easier. when the swap is complete, install the manual center console, and just tuck the harness behind the audio console (you know, where the ashtray is at).

hmmm...not sure about that. remove your center console and flip it, are there tabs for the boot to mount to?

either way, you can personally find a way to hide it, but leaving it still connected still makes the job alot easier. just make sure it left in park.

leave it in park, got it. I don't know about the center console tabs I don't even have a boot or shift *** yet, lol. I'll figure something out

EDIT::
Confused... If your car thinks it's in park, won't that not allow it to rev above 5000 rpm?

I should have looked at the starter more carefully, conector was loose. As to the key not coming out, I think it's because it's a little jacked up (bent, little scratches, I have trouble openning doors with it). Thanks for the help ya'll. And by the way, I connected the two thick wires this time.

the auto and manual console should be the same, at least the one in my 99 was the same and had the tabs and screw holes for a shift boot. and the car will rev fine with it in park.
