Scca legal roll bar.....
o.k. i have been following this thread on s2ki..
http://www.s2ki.com/forums/ind...03587
and am not sure wether or not to order one, get a custom bar made,or try to find a used elda.... etc. etc.
so, can anyone tell me about the fitment of the cusco roll bar? i know that it is not scca legal, but, could it be used as a template to make a scca legal bar?
i.e. if it fits well, have someone fab up a bar to the same dimensions, but within scca spec on diameter of tubing and mounting points?
any thoughts?
spoon bar or mugen bar?
does anyone know if they are scca legal?
i like many others would like to track my s2k.....VIR is within 3 hours of my house, but they will not let you on the track unless the bar is scca legal and passes the broomstick test.....
any help is greatly appreciated....

Custom is prob your best option at this point. A local rally shop told me custom roll bar with install to NASA/SCCA specs would be 1200-1400. They have never done a s2k so they would be starting from scratch which is why the price is a lil high. If I had to get one for my S, i'd go to them.
You could also try cody from lovefab. I'm not sure if he still makes them or not.

The cusco bar fits tight because you can adjust it at the joints, and can assembly by pieces. It's still a bitch, though. Using the template for the main hoop is fine... I'd move it around only a little bit, but I'd also extend the mount for the two rear bars to brace the rear shock towers.
Spoon/Mugen 7point is FIA legal. Give the tech inspector a call.

This was the prototype.

He's been getting an *** load of bad publicity. I haven't talk to him much since he got married, but he needs to know he has our support.

Suppose that I simply want to do (as they call it in South FL) "Driver's Ed" autocross events where I'm ripping the car around orangeg cones in a parking lot. Is a roll bar required for that type of event? Or is it dependant upon the organizers which would be the PCA (Porsche Club of America) here in South Florida?

my local scca chapter does not require any more than the factory roll hoops....
it may vary with organizations, check with your event organizer

I wouldn't bother using that as a template. Any decent cage builder will want to take their own dimensions for cage fitment. If you're looking for some decent cage builders in your area, post something on the road racing section for suggestions. $1,200 - $1,400 for just a roll bar is very high regardless wheither they've done one for an S2K or not - that really shouldn't matter much unless you're talking about mass produced ones.
I've seen a few S2Ks out on the track w/o a roll bar and think that's pretty silly. I've been tempted to take mine out on the track but quickly thought twice about it.

agreed but only to a certain degree.... not the best example but your not gonna have a 12point cage to run 13's...

Around here, an 8 pt DOM with nascar bars would be $2000+
