zc motor

Default zc motor

i just purchased a zc motor in a 91 hatch and i am going to swap it into my 89 hatch....how do i tell the year of the motor...it does have a zc stmp then it says"2236841" under it....it has a chrome cover on it..so i dunno about the black and brown ones....i need to get a distributor for it?....should i go with the 88-89 integra dist. regardless of the year...i would greatly appreciate anyones help!...thanks christian

Pull it out and drop it right into the 89, nothing more would need to be done unless the 89 is a DX model.

88-89 integra dizzy will work with the zc. the zc will drop right in with the exception that the plugs for the dizzy are different. check out the FAQ at the top of the main crx/civic page.

You can see the year of the motor to the left of the exhaust port for the 3rd cylinder.

its dohc zc. the dohc have the serial number underneath the ZC stamp(his first post says it has the serial number).
sohc just have ZC stamped

The SOHCs have serial numbers too.

my sohc didn't, i have only read that dohc zc have it, but i don't know everything. sorry for the misinformation. i hate reading stuff and taking it as fact. my bad.

engine year of manufacture - if it says 89, it is probably from a 90 model car, etc. - if it doesn't say anything, it is 88

thanks that will help alot.....its it better to get a zc dizzy or the integra?......i bought a parts car for my civic and that what it had for a motor ...kid said that it had under 100k onit....actually i made out well....the car has a body kit...coilovers rims tires, si leather interior and dash...full exhaust!...im actually selling the shell and the kit...and just throwing everything else in my 89 hatch....would rather have a sleeper than a flashy car.......my dodge challenger will be my flashy car...thanks guys

Either of those dizzys will work. See if he has a conversion harness for the dizzy and CPS wiring on there already so you don't have to re-wire. Otherwise, check the FAQ on how to convert your harness to work with the ZC.

I do believe that if that serial number starts with a 2, it is from a CRX. I read that on thezcr.com.

New? Ebay or Distributor King. Otherwise just search the marketplace here or scan a junkyard for an Integra one.
