i was using my stock piping along with a blitz filter, so today i finally got round to fitting my intake pipe and i'm using the blitz SuS filter with it, but now i cant hear the secondaries cut in at 6000rpm any more. Before it was clearly audible at 6k rpm but now theres no extra noise or that little kick i used to feel. the car doesnt seem down on power above 6k rpm, has anyone else noticed this after fitting intake pipes???
i felt the same thing, i had a K&N on stock piping and secondaries where extremely loud, then i relaced it with the AEM CAi and i cant hardly hear vtec. some people said it was cause the filter is farther away but i dont really know
i got an AEM cai and it is ******* louder than exhaust when 4400 comes around then even louder when the 2ndaries open up... owned

Hey sorry if I'm bring back the dead but I think I'm experiencing the same thing on an H22A4 5th gen Prelude. I put in a AEM CAI and I can't distinctly hear my secondary butterfiles.

I don't think you understand how vtec works. It is the secondaries that open at 4400 and you can not hear vtec !!

I can hear it when I roll on the throttle so that vtec kicks in above 5k.

You are right. I was in a hurry last time I was here, thinking one thing typing another. Sorry, I do not like to give bad info. Should have read it before posting. Here is what I meant to say.
You can not hear V-TEC. If you can truly hear your V-TEC you have way better hearing (and quieter exhaust) than most or there is something wrong. Many people think it is the V-TEC that they hear when it is actually the secondary runners of the intake that open at 5800 while V-TEC is actually engaged somewhere around 4400.

I should have taken video tape of the civic with the b18c, but I will not argue this.
BTW, vtec only engages at 4400 under WOT, assuming you are going over 25 and have sufficient oil pressure. Under less than WOT it may engage higher.

Thousands of members on this board will disagree with you when you say there must be something wrong if you can hear your vtec engage!! Do you even have a vtec car?????
BTW its VTEC not V-TEC
