Default Help! Have Questions 88 dx mpfi ( rev, Limeter)

Ok, guys, lets see how good you really are. Does anyone know a way to remove the rev limeter from a 88 si ecu, its killing me, the car makes much power after about 4200 but that stupid limeter hits around 7g and spoils the whole party. There has got to be away to do it myself. I only got one run in last weak an ran a 16.2 quarter. I have done some major tuning since and Think I can get into mid 15's this week. But I am betting that without a limeter, i might even be able to knock another tenth or two off. Ok thanks for your time.

I wouldn't take it above 7000 rpm without upgrading the valvetrain. You are more than likely to float a valve at those high revs.

So, do you have a spare engine in your garage?
Or better question yet, DO you have a cam that will make power
above 7K RPM?
The stock cam starts to get weak at 7K RPM, so reving higher will not make an improvement.
if You want to run mid 15's, I'd suggest a lot of practice, a good clutch and good tires.

ok, the cam is out of an 88 si also, and about the spare engine, I have much faith in it and thats not my question anyway, but I appretiat the concern. I think mid to high 15's isn't a problem where it sits, i only got to run once and I wasn't even concentration, since then I re adjusted the valves tight again, which makes a BIG difference and a few other things.. But I think she'll handle about 7500-8000. its rusty anyway, if it goes, its just an excuse to buy something nice.

Hondata doesn't chip the OBD0 ecus except for the PR3 and PW0. Try http://www.zdyne.com or http://www.hyperducktuning.com
