Problems with 2000 LS
Im posting this for my friend because she just bought a 2000 LS with roughly 150K on the clock. It was driving fine when she brought it home Saturday night, and now it has a CEL. I checked the code and it ended up being code 72 a for random misfire in cylinder 2. The car is running rather rough. Ive talked to several people already about the problem and they all seem to think that its either spark plug, wire, or rotor in the distributer. The hood latch is broken, and one is being installed on Tuesday for her. I didnt want to pop the hood and not be able to shut it, just in case she had to drive it somewhere. I know what Im doing, but I want to make sure that the dealership that she bought it from isnt trying to screw her over.
What are your opinions on this?
Also, her hatch release lever sticks a little and wont latch the trunk when you close it. You have to physically push the lever back to its original position to get it to latch properly. Is there any way of fixing this?
Thanks guys.

first it sounds like she needs a new hood and trunk cable and as far as the dealer screwing her over i dont think so it just sounds like simple tune up stuff but you never know but i would try doing the plugs, cap, rotor, and wires, and clean the injectors and see how it runs that should clear it up for her though take care.
Unless it was an AS IS deal I would try to take it back to where she got it to get the hood and trunk thing fixed. You would think if you were buying a car these would be things that worked from the start. No one ever tried to pop the hood before she bought this thing? The misfire sounds like previously stated...just tune up stuff.
They did pop the hood, and her dad checked everything out..... and I guess it looked good. They had to do something to re-latch the hood, but they ordered a new hood latch and cable from Acura and are just waiting for it to come in so that they can install it.
I figured thats what it was, but I wanted to get some opinions. LOL
The dealer is going to take care of everything..... well he has to because she has a 30 day/3000 mile warranty. I told her just to get it towed back to the shop and have them fix everything.
Thanks for all the feedback
