help, 16 yr old wanting to do some track days
i'm 16 with a crx i would like to learn how to drive but obviously want to do is safely, i live in georgia and would like to do some track days around the southeast, is my age a problem ? if so is there a way to get around this ? thanks for the help
I think as long as you have a driver's license and your car passes tech you should be ok. Your parents may have to sign a waiver. Check with the club you want to run with (NASA, SCCA, etc.).
Here's a quote from http://www.nasaproracing.com
"Anyone who is a member of NASA (or a NASA sanctioned car club, such as INEX) may participate. Minimum age is 18 (16 with parental consent). "

Here on the East Coast, if you are under 18 you must have a parent or legal guardian on site during the event. So check with your area director first. Good luck I wish I had started at 16 instead on 28...
All I did was get the waiver signed and turned it in and was ok. I didn't have to have parnets at the event because I was autocrossing, but I remember reading on the waiver that a parent must check the "hot" areas once you get on the site to make sure they are safe for the minor. My older brother was along with me and I had no problem at SCCA or NASA events.
thanks for the help guys, my older brother will probally with me everytime i go (he has a eg hatch) and my dad will be with me most of the time, hopfully i can start heading out and start driving soon, again thanks for the help
