LONG distance driving with 500+whp non-vtec
Hello everyone,
I will soon be purchasing a fellow HT'ers car. I will be flying in to get it and then driving back 5.5-6 hrs back home.
Are there any typical driving conditions i should try to avoid, any precausions i could take?
I understand that the build and tune is 99% of it but how it is driven and treated matters to!
Thanks, just trying to be cautious!
btw - please dont bother with the..." dont beat on it for 6+ hours straight" etc.. thats a given IMO
-to date the car has been driven for an hour or so non stop with zero temp issues. (according to owner/seller)

you should be fine as long as you dont boost a lot and also stack up on fluids just incase something happens and pull over like part of your trip and check all fluids to be on the safe side
what car are you picking up?

how many miles? If it is far (over 1500 miles) and the car is really expensive/clean and in mint condition I would make a auto transporter move it for you. It will be cheaper to drive it yourself but many risks are involved ex: no insurance, flat tire, drunk drivers, etc. I am a auto transporter and have drove 18 wheelers all over America, **** happens. I dont think alot of people realise how dangerous driving is. If you decide to drive it take some precautionary measures. Jack, spare, fluids, protective tape for the front bumper, flash light, etc.

I don't how it would be a problem. It should drive like a normal honda until you put your foot in to it. I would drive my 242whp stock block ls 6 hours to L.A. right now with out worrying about anything. Good luck
thanks for the congrats! I PM'ed you. sorry dont want to disclose any $$ til its all said and done. We both are getting what we want
tempting it will... but its supposed to be isolated showers here all through the sunshine state on thurs

drove mine home 300 miles..some bolts vibrated out ,so bring some tools, fliuds, stop half way and eat. then check everthing after the engine has cooled!!!
Clutch and traffic may be a head ache but no real issue, I drive my fully built B16 from Paris to London then onto an event, race all day use it for a couple of days in the Uk then drive back to Paris.
As has been said, keep an eye on things and take a good selection of tools for the just in case factor.
I would stop every hour or so just to admire the car if nothing else
Novel idea...
Map out your path... Find a HT member in each major city along the way. Get their info... In case you get into trouble, need a wrench, whatever... give them a buzz. There are plenty of members all over. Make sure you have a case of beer or something for payment.
