Auto to Manual
How hard will it be to change a DX auto to a manual when I do my B16 swap? I found a auto that I am going to get if there is not to much crap involved. nick
Actually.. it's not all that hard.. quite simple if you have all the parts.. What year is your DX? Cause for the newer later years of the EF.. 90-91.. They already have a hole in the firewall for the clutch cable.. but the 88 (not sure about 89) don't have that hole.. If you don't have that hole.. drilling it is a very difficult task due to the angle and space.
I've done a few of them, so I'm speaking from experience.. It's not all that difficult. Just make sure you have all the parts and you'll be fine.

True, it is not hard at all to do the swap. The manual pedal board is fun to put in
but other than that it's not bad. I just did the swap on a 91 CRX DX auto and put in a 96 B18B1 with 92 YS1 tranny. Good thing about the EF's is that the transimssion bracket on the frame rail is the same for both auto's and manual's. The EG's are different and you need to hack the bracket off and weld a new one for a manual to the frame.

I'm not sure if it's the 92 LS or 92 GSR since they are both YS1. I can't get the clutch cable to work yet
The only way I'll know is to drive it and see how the gears ratios are. I bought it from a salvage yard and they had both a tranny from a 92 B17A and B18A side by side and told me to take my pick so I got the cleanest looking one. I'm hoping it's the one from the B17A
Is there anyway to check what it is by using the code on the tranny or something?
