can an alternator cut off and on?
ive searched for someone with the same problem but i cant find it.
A few weeks ago my battery light started flickering on and off and i hit the gas and it stopped but when the rpms came back down it started doing it again.then the light stopped flickering was just on solid and a min later the car started to die and i coasted down the off ramp and parked it and tried to start it,it was a no go.well i got a jump from a guy and made it home....barely. so i took the alt out and took it and the battery to get tested autozone said they were fine so i put them back in got a new alternator belt and tightened it just a tad tighter than it was before and cleaned all the grounds i can find no matter what they were to.car ran great....till today......same problem..........so im wondering is it possible for an alternator to stop working then work again for a while or once it stops working thats it..its gone.also could it be that it has a short in wires that connect to the alt and me taking it out and moving it around just made it work till it got vibrated loose again? if anyone can help that would be great...thanks

did you check the second nut under the ground connection? there are two nuts if i remember correctly. one on top of the connector, and underneath.
theres only one and then the connector but the thing is after i took it out and got it tested and put it back in it worked flawlessly so more than 2 weeks......
I didn't read your post cause im just about to pass out but I did read the title. Yes they can cut out sometimes, mine did that on my truck when the brushes were going bad. I don't see why they couldn't on an acura. Just get it benchtested at like napa, its free and you'll know for sure, Or just take it to somewhere and they might even test the battery and alt for free.
