Motor is acting a fool now - PLS READ
alright so you have prolly already read my thread about the build, its my LS/Vtec.
Its been running so awesome since I got it off the dyno, until Thursday night.
I drove it to work, it started in the monring as usual, only it was very rough on the idle, so much so that I had to hold the rpm very lightly for a constant prolly 40secs-1min then it would idle just perfect. I chalked this one up to cold wheather. It drastically dropped in temp that night.
So then I go to work, I come out at 9pm, got there at 12 noon. I try to start my car, it fires up but idle's like to grunts then dies, cranked it again same thing.
So I let it chill out a bit then I tried again and nothing, motor wont even crank over. So I sat in my work parking lot for 45mins trying to start it, and nothing. Ever now and then it would fake me out by almost firing up, but it just birps, then nothing.
Now my battery is hanging on to dear life, its about to go. So I thought it was dead, or not strong enough with the cold wheather (ohh yea the wheather kept dropping in temp the whole day so when I came out it was like -19 with windchill)
So I get it hooked up with booster cables let it charge for 5-10mins and the same thing, the starter is going but the engine wont fire.
So after 40 solid mins of this I was about to just park it and go home and try it the next day when the temp was warmer, but the very last try it fired up, very rough idle felt like something was stuck in the exhaust and it was trying to push it out. So I had to hold the revs at a steady rpm, not high at all for about 1min or longer now. Then it kicked in and idled perfect and ran like normal.
So I drove it home, and parked it until today, I HAD to drive it to work today. So this morning I go to start it up, and nothing again. Engine doesnt crank but the starter is going. I let if go, then try again and boom fires up right away, but I still have to hold the rpm's to a bit till it smooths out. And the same thing happens when I left work today.
The only difference I had today was this morning when I first started it I could smell gas. I dunno if it was flooded from the previous night with me trying to start it soo many times or what.
Theres no leaks on the ground at my work or my driveway. After it warms up it runs liek normal. Except today on my way home the idle wasnt like it has been. Ever since the dyno the idle stays constant(at what rpm I dont know - no tach) but when I was driving home at intersections while in neutral it would drop in rpm then back up, never stayed constant.
Could any help me out here??? Should I be worried or is this just from the extreme cold? Currently using an AEBS TB. And for a whoel week after I got back from the dyno the motor would fire up mint everytime.

man, this engine acts up hardcore. I'm not sure what the problem could be but in spring time I'd pull it out and re-inspect everything lol
good luck with this issue

Your telling me man. Its one thing after another.
I truely believe its the wheather. Its warmer today and I really didnt have any issues. When I had the problems was when the temp dropped drastically

Are you getting any white smoke apon startup? I blew a headgasket once and had a similar problem. If you had your car dyno tuned its not runnign too awfol rich, although it could possibly be a part of your cold start enrichment.

No white smoke on startup, my car is running rich hwoever, it was tuned with safety in mind, so its rich on start and top end. I have a feeling that ist the cold start. I just didnt know it would be that hard to start. But now I know

Nope, no cold start. Thats why I am almost 100% sure thats the reason.
Thanks for the help guys
