You can always pull the engine...that's a good 300 lbs lost.

Other then that, you must gut it. And even then, interior probably weighs 150lbs with carpet. You will need to lose the sound deadening and the heating to make it really light.

Talk to CRXBart about losing weight.

Street-Gut:
Easiest Way:

Remove Spare tire. Saves some poundage.

If you want more, keep going.

First off, to make this easier, remove both seats and the center console. Then, begin removing the carpeting. After you've removed all the carpeting, gaze at the work you have ahead of you. The factory painted down a tar-based soundproofing which probably weighs about 40 lbs all together. The easiest way to remove this soundproofing is by pouring isopropyl alcohol on it, then adding cubes of DRY ICE everywhere. After it's sat for a while and frozen over, go out an hit it with a hammer. It should shatter. If you're really ghetto, you can always use an air hammer with the chisel add-on and hit it at an angle.

The rear interior pieces aren't need as well. Remove those. Your stock seats also weigh a good amount of poundage apiece, 30 lbs a piece if I remember correctly? If you want to lose more weight, acquire a set of non-reclining bucket racing seats, like Sparco, Bride, Momo, Recaro, F1Spec, ect.

Exterior lightening is pretty easy. Polyurethane and metal weighs quite a bit. Replace your hood with a carbon-fiber or fiberglass hood. Also, a fiberglass body kit MAY weigh less than your stock front bumper, rear bumper, and sideskirts. Remove your sunroof and replace it with a carbon-fiber or lexan plug. Also, get rid of your rear wiper if you have one.

Borderline Race Gut:
Do all of the above.

Remove your little quarter-panel glass windows and replace them with lexan.

Get a lightweight exhaust system and lightweight headers. Replace the gas tank with one from an HF CRX.

Racing Gut

Don't attach a rear bumper. Replace the rear hatch with a carbon-fiber one, instead of glass, attach lexan for the rear window. Remove interior door panels and dashboard. Remove radio. Remove passenger seat. Remove side windows and replace them with Lexan. Remove front windshield washer tank. Replace the gas tank with a fuel cell.

start with the removal of AC to begin with...then all interior...carpet...dynamat...in the end you should be left with no interior...besides a single driver seat...gauge cluster..and a shift lever.......no dash either..thats how i used to rock! heh...

You can replace the hatch window with some thing light too. Thats pretty heavy.
Get one of those little *** batteries, dont remember who makes it, but its like
half the weight. Carbon fiber hood.
Dont use bigger brakes. Also they sell the carbon fiber seats,
so get ride of those originals and install one of those.
Or if you cant afford those get some hf seats. Trust me there about half the weight.
Get the hf bumper support, thats lighter.
Lightweigh wheels.
But being that light would that give you any traction?

he's also probably in a class that has a minimum weight with driver. His car would have to weigh the same regardless of who was driving it.

There are definite advantages to having a lighter person drive your car. I can hop in my dad's race car and click off times 1-2 tenths quicker and around 1-2 mph higher trap. He's in a bracket class so it doesn't matter but it's just something to think about if you are over the 200 pound mark.

my hatch is pretty stripped down. No interior, No carpet, No heat/AC, no wipers (motor, linkage and arms), no sound deadening, F1spec seats, removed stock seatbelts for 5pt harnesses, lighter steering wheel, light wheels, lighter lugnuts, traction bar cross-member instead of a factory cross member, (B-series) header instead of the factory exhaust manifold, exhaust routing changed to exit on the passenger side instead of additional piping/weight running over to the drivers side, no headliner, removed the passenger side mirror (drivers side is required to be road legal, yes i got hassled for that), lighter rear control arms.

it gets kind ridiculous. and though things like lug nuts might seem pointless every bit adds up.
