This might be really dumb, but I need to send my valvecover off to get powdercoated, but there are a few deep scratched that I dont want to be shown through the coat, so without welding, would it be possible to just fill it and sand it with either JB weld or bondo and have it hold up throught the heat and powdercoating? sorry if this is a dumb question.

There are a few really good uses for JB weld, this is one of them.
I know this doesn't apply to the OP, but to those who search for this thread I can say with confidence that JB Weld works excellent as a 'bondo' on aluminum if you're just painting it.
I only use the OG stuff (not JBquick or whatever) because it has higher strength and tolerances. (lots of info on the website)

DO NOT use JB weld to fill a scratch on your valve cover if you are going to powder coat it or the coater will be upset. This is the correct stuff to use:

I know not to use JB from personal experience, LOL TRG will do a good job, he has done work for me in the past.
