Default hybrid or non si shocks on a si?

The ride on my Si is a little rough with my stechs and another person in the car... a little too stiff/bouncy.

I was thinking of putting softer non-si shocks, or shocks out of a hybrid (my friends hybrid rides very nice).

I'm ok with losing some handling with softer shocks in exchange for a more comfortable ride, since I drive 80 miles a day, and half of that in traffic.

Has anyone done this? Anyone know if the hybrid shocks will work? especially the rears?

No. No. No.

Even if you were to get them to fit they'd blow out even more quickly than your stock OE shocks are going to.

You can also contribute a harsh ride to the size of your tires combined with aftermarket springs.... if you want a hybrid like ride buy a hybrid, put your stock suspension back on or get some big soft tires / downsize your rim.

If i wanted a hybrid I'd buy a hybrid. That wasn't my question. The question was getting a better ride. Even with stock suspension I thought it was bumpy/harsh, at least around here.... the roads suck.

Ok, I'll remove my stock 17s and put on 14s with a 80 series tire. Thanks for the help

was that sarcasm? directed to trevor?

He is actually trying to help you. I dont understand how if your running stock springs & shocks how your "ride is rough". The ride on my oem equipment was great.

Take your car back to the dealer and have them check that you didnt blow your oem shocks if your having a "rough" ride.

i say you get a new car, the SI is not for you. go buy yourself a hybrid. so you get s-techs on your SI and you want your ride to be a hybrid? good job on that. if you thought your ride was too stiff when it was stock then why the hell did you buy s-techs? if you want a nice ride, you'd have to fork up some money and buy a complete suspension. not trying to sound like a complete *** but you're asking for advice then you act like a dick to people that give it to you.

i should keep count.

i think his question was if something from a base model would fit the Si. not whether or not he should get a hybrid.

...and who cares if he show some sarcasm to tre, i would have too...

"if you wanted an hybrid-like ride you should have bought a hybrid"

wtf?

Because Tre contributes more data here and 90% of the members for 1

and secondly if you READ beak's posts
you'll see he didnt like the OEM ride....
than lowered with with S techs and didnt like it still.

SO why would you lower a car if you weren't happy with OEM equipment?

They would blow out more quickly because they are designed for a HYBRID vehicle --- not a 2 dr Si... The two suspension geometries are completely different and designed with two different concepts in mind. One being a soft ride for a economy sedan and the other being a sporty ride for a 200hp coupe.

Obviously that wasn't your question, it was a bit of a facetious answer.... kinda like your smartass remark about putting 14's and stock suspension back on... You lowered your car while retaining STOCK dampers and expect the ride quality to be good? Then you ask about putting hybrid struts in to make the ride quality better? Seems to me that you need all the obvious advice you can get or else you wouldnt be asking this question in the first place

lol and wtf is up with people like you posting nothing that is useful?... go back and read my original response and you'll notice that I answered the OP's question just as he requested... wanting his Si to ride like a hybrid is a bit far-fetched, thus the 'buy a hybrid statement'.

WTF have you done for this thread besides scrutinize my statements? He asked a question and got an answer.... should I sugar-coat my response next time just to insure that I dont offend the OP. ... ?? Unless youre contributing some useful information why dont you go post somewhere else?

Come on now...my 56 year old mother says my car rides smooth. If you don't like it, you should have made that decision when you test drove the car. Don't ruin an Si by trying to make it something that it is not.

...

i think if you want a better ride without all the headache, just get some normal non low profile tires with some 15" wheels. better than ruining your suspension

any lowering springs on stock struts is a BAD idea (it's not going to ride like you want it to and they will blow early)...not to mention Tein products are complete crap. Sorry for stating the obvious.
