My wifes 2000 accord ex 4cyl has a defective cable reel assy. How difficult is this to replace? I have the new part and a steering wheel puller. Is their anything specific I have to do when replaceing this?

unhook the battery for about 15 minutes before you unplug the airbag. Otherwise it's pretty straight forward, just make sure you keep the steering wheel straight when you put it back

 

yes, pretty simple. i know most cars its only held on by 3 phillips head screws...

 

Be sure you have the wheels pointed straight when you do the job, the new reel will come with a piece of tape holding it in the centered position, and the steering should also be centered.
And as stated in the previous post unhook the battery when you have the radio code in hand.

 

Thanks to everyone who replied. It took about 30 min to install and $50.00 for the part. Better than the $300.00 the dealer wanted.
