B16A question?
Hey all you ef b series gurus i have a simple question for you. First of all i have a CRX with a jdm b16a in it, i wanted to know how i could tell whether it has a obd1 or obd0 ecu. Also, if it has an obd0 ecu, is it possible to hook a vafc controller up?

Your engine is obd1 and your car was converted from obd0 to obd1 with an ecu conversion harness..

There is no way you know that with the information that was given.
Look at the ecu. does is say pr3, pw0, p28? is there a conversion harness? or the easy way, is there a little window with an led on it? if so it is OBD0

Well i figured because he said he had a jdm b16a swap in his car which I understood to be a full swap...and the swap comes with a pr3 or the pw0..

There is a small window on the ecu that has a blinking red light in it, does this mean that ihave to convert to obd1 to run a vafc controller or not?

This means you have a code which is probably something to do with a vtec. You need to convert to OBD-1 and you will be able to PROPERLY run the b16 in your car. Also you will have better tuning capabilities that you would with a non obd ecu
no ur talking about the vafc apexi controller, u can run those w\ obdo or obd1 its a quick fix for those obdo guys who dont want to spend money on obd1 but want there vtec to kick in at certan points, i got the vafc-II
It means you are throwing a code.
1 long bleep is a 10 the short ones are 1's.
YOu ahve to count them. 1 long and 1 short is 11...ect. THere will be pauses in between to let you know it's a new code.
watch it and count until the loop starts over.
There are lots of threads on here that tell you what the codes mean.

Yes... codes are not a good thing, but it may be confused about your swap. Best way is to count the blinks and determine your code. If you look in the FAQ you will see uber amount of code threads!

I 2nd that, got a b16a in mine, runs fine, if your going to be tuning etc... switch over to obd1, other wise, sit back and enjoy.
