Okay here is the deal, i am building my 93 hatch for SFWD and i am a little confused on what i should do! Anyways I currently have my hands on a full-race stage 3 turbo kit which includes the ramhorn manifold, GT3582r, with the smaller backdoor intercooler.....
Now my setup consist of a
gsr benson sleeved
pauter rods
cp pistons
alaniz gsr ported head
.5mm oversized valves on each side
supertech valvetrain
and much more just dont want to bore you....
Now what im not sure what to do to kind of keep up with the faster guys as to what size turbo and mani to go with!
gt4088r with full race divided top mount
gt4094r with afi dual wg topmount
or what....
All info is great and thanks for helping me choose

i disagree. not always the bigger the better.
If you want to get your feet wet and still be competitive, you can run a 4088/4094. Many people have great success with them. While a select few have had great success with the 42r, its because most of them have had tried and true setups on smaller turbos than the 42r, most noticably; the 4088/4094...

my point exactly. and you dont see him getting put on the trailer, do u?
Im not so sure why people thing by "instantly" putting on a 42R is going to make you "competitive"...
A well powered car, with alot of testing and knowledge will make a car competitive, not a turbo..

a gt3582 r w\ill make 650 whp w/o a problem.....
thats more than enough to run good....
i believe joe simpson ran 9's w/ about that hp!
spend the $ on a motec/suspsnion/slicks/safety....the list goes on...unless u have all that already

I would hate building a pretty potent setup just to get put on the trailer after round one. </TD></TR></TABLE>
Putting a 42r on your car would build you a pretty 'potent' setup, but the only thing that will put you on your trailer is your driving skill; or having said that, lack thereof..
If you went with a 40, made 675hp. and then got put on the trailer after one round, id definately say either you blew up, cant drive, or were facing a car that is just a hell of alot faster.. Most likely, choice A or B
btw, im not personaly attacking you, im speaking in generalities.

well i just got my car back from the cage shop!!!! it should be legal to do 9's,
I did it this way that i never have to go back and spend more money.. im not that great of a driver but i think im pretty good. I want to go with a topmount and a 4088r with t4 housing just incase i might want more POWER
so it looks like im going with the 40r that way i can still be somewhat competitive.....
1 thing is for sure Seat time will be the most i need

I by far am no pro but you should start small and work your way up. As another top SFWD person said it only takes about 675whp to trap low 150's mph. Traction and powerband is what's up!

..You don't need a 42r to be competitive. the 40r still will make plenty of power. it all comes down to, the right combo of parts, a well tuned motor with a good amount of boost, and a capable drag suspension setup thats dialed in.
...and of course pleanty of seat time.
