I have a 91 Civic Hatch DX. Its an automatic, but thats ok because I picked the car up cheap. But anyways, I go out this morning to start my car and let it warm up and it starts fine and I come out 10 min later and hop in my car and turn on the lights. The dash lights up fine but no lights? I drove five miles with high beams on working then switched back and they were on? What could make that happen? And also when my car is cold and I come to a stop and put my car in park, it doesn't light up on the dash around "P" for park so I can't take the key out till it says... is there anything I can do to fix this stuff?
Check fuses, any loose or odd looking wiring hack jobs. This is only thing about buying an automatic USED honda. Usually people rice out automatic hondas, if they don't get around to a wing and bodykit they start messing with strobe lights, and neons, and indiglo gauges, make sure your wiring hasn't be tampered with and then report back.

My dx does the same thing. Only when its cold out. I'd have to go snap some pictures to show you what I found however I havent replaced the part to see if it would fix the problem because I found a way around it. I'll get back to you later with some pics.
Also my brake light wont go off, even if I depress the little switch...only when its cold out.

Ok so my digi-cam batteries are dead so I hired a professional artist to draw you a picture

Ok, after you take off the shifter cover look at the shifter from the passenger side and you'll see something like what the artist drew. Theres a white box with solder points along it with the wires running out. If you disconnect this box theres a metal pin that sticks out from the shifter and it slides a contact up and down which tells your gauge cluster (and ignition lock) what gear your in. I have a feeling if you replace this white box it will solve the problem because mine would "click" into place when it was slid over a gear, but there was no click in park or in D2, neither of which light up. I took mine apart and cleaned it though, and put fresh grease in there but still doesnt work...so if you have no interior like me...
Thats where the two red solder points I colored in come in. If you touch both of these with your finger (make sure your finger is warm, im not joking) it will make the Park light light up, and you can take your key out without having to wait for it to come on on its own. However you have to keep your finger on these points until you get your key out. If you take your finger off the Park light will go back off and no keys for you. It sucks because its easy to touch with your right hand but then its hard to get your keys out with your left. haha, it sucks but its better than waiting up to 3-4 minutes for the damn light to come on by itself.
You might also want to look closer into these solder points and maybe try to re-solder them. Could be cracked and the cold just doesnt help the situation. Good luck.
