Default Anyone have any luck with using the factory airbox and maintaining power?

I am moving to Visalia california in aboout 3 months and my Dad was telling me about the Smog laws. I was planning on putting a factory Itr intake system with a comptech drop in filter. I was wondering what kind of power loses will i have? and since i am missing the resonator and all tubing leaving the airbox are there any mods that i can do to make the factory box perform? or should i just remove the Lid?

anyone? Someone has to be making good power with a Stockin Dc2 air intake system? if so what mods did you do? If i leave the resonator out will that effect my smog outcome? Also what performance modifications can i do to the airbox? or is removing the lid the best? and is this illegal?

Dunno what kinda numbers im putting down, but I like the setup I have. I have Comptech SS Header, ITR Cat. Comptech catback piping with stock ITR muffler, Chipped P28 w/ custom map(s) , 00 ITR cams, and using the Stock Intake system w/ COmptech drop in filter.

All I did was yank the big resonator out thats in the fender, and hack off the tube that goes from the bottom of the air box to resonator, and then re-attach it to the stock airbox . Works good and its like using the Comptech Icebox setup.
