best cam for my setup? blox b or skunk2 pro 2?
Hello...i got this setup:
b18c block with wiseco 12.8:1 cp and eagle i beam rods. toda light flywheel.
mild ported head by portflow, jge nitro coated valves (jge dual springs and retainers)
Blox intake ported and polished at runners and plenum by JGE also portmatched to a BDL 70mm throttle boddy.
the grearbox is from ITR
i am gonna tune it with crome , and i want to use it daily driven!
i know skunk2 pro2 are much bigger than blox B'
which one would u suggest for my setup?
where is each one better than the other?
reliability problems?
thank u

My cousin dynoed 195whp on his type r with short ram intake, edelbrock header, greddy exhautst, with blox type b cams, so i think your setup should easily hit 200whp. Plus the blox cams are like half the price of sk2 pro 2.

That's news to me and my S2 Pro 2 daily driver.

This is what i read in another thread a while back. Like i said, from the research i've done, some people complaining about the rough ideling, but i can only speak for blox b from experience that they have a fairly smooth idle without much tuning.

I respect alot of your opinions expecially DonF given that he is a guru when it comes to this ****. HOWEVER, you guys make it seem that it is very easy to idle there cams when truely its not. My buddy runs the pro 1's on his built gsr and getting them to idle properly, on a consistant basis(day in and day out) was a task in itself. I'm not saying it cannot be done however they are very tempremental. Maybe someone should do a writeup on how to idle skunk pro series cams.

Most cams with bigger than stock primary lobes require finesse to get a good idle. This does not preclude them from being good cams for a daily driven vehicle.

Nope.
Nope.
i heard that if a cam isnt that big (blox b tuner series) and u have too much cp for it then it wont be good at high rpms....it would be better if u have less cp...
also u with high cp u have to "cut" the ignition to avoid detonation...so better with less cp and higher advance.////
wrong??

The Blox B is actually a pretty good sized cam profile. Talk with Jeff @ Import Builders and ask him what his favorite cam profile is, he uses that profile in anything from mild street motors to 13+ c/r drag motors.

No you are correct here. For example, if you are building a street motor and to be ran on pump gas, you're going to get a better tune out of a motor with 11.5 total c/r than a motor with 13.0 total c/r. The lower compression gives the tuner more room to actually work WITH the motor rather than working against it. Now if you're running C16 or the like, it's a different story.

aha, so its just that its more difficult to the tuner, if he is good he can achieve the best out of the 13 cp and probably get more hp and torgue than the other case (11.5cp ,more advance)....did i get it right? so it does worth to keep that hight cp and use an OEM honda head gasket...

If you are using the proper fuel, yes. If you're gonna try to run 13:0 on pump gas, you're in for some trouble.

Add me to the Skunk2 Pro2+ daily driver list.
I <3 my cams.
Whoever says the Pro2+'s don't idle needs to find a more experienced tuner.
