Default D16z6 swap...tranny question

looking at a full swap that a friend has...d16z6 swap into 88 CRX SI with d16a6

i need conversion harness, ECU either a p28 or pr3? correct me if i'm wrong. then i can use SI harness from my car...will injectors work? use the z6 or a6 injectors? are they different impedance or anything? and harness will work with the z6 ones if i use those? and then the mount i will need to take off the a6 engine block and put it on the z6 right? and i might need to grind it off a little?

as for now the tranny....i have a 88 SI tranny...that i'm going to use....i know the different spline counts and all that stuff. if i use the 88 tranny i will need the 88 clutch disc, pressure plate, throwout bearing? and i use the z6 flywheel that its coming with? correct me if i'm incorrect.,,,,

i need to make sure the car is up and running in a day because i can't keep the car at a friends house for more then a weekend...thanks

I know the p28 is the right one. Don't know what the pr3 is offhand.

Either will work. If you use the z6 ones though you need to remove the resistor pack and connect all the wires in it so it just goes straight through. If you search (probably under obd1 conversion) there should be info on that.

Different plugs if i remember right.

I don't know 100% about the rest of it so i'm not going to answer.

p28 ecu..92-95 civic ex/si

L mount on timing side from A6.

Enlarge the hole for the mount on the timing cover.

If u gonna convert to obd1..use the z6 injectors & dizzy.

Get the clutch kit for your tranny. Use the z6 flywheel. Might as well replace the pilot bearing.

Unless you wire it yourself you will need the jumper harness for the ECU and P28 is the correct one.

I got my ECU, Vtec subharness, and Dizzy harness/jumpers from Rywire.com. It was plug and play and works great. I highly recommend it if your not doing it yourself.

Either or...i just used my a6 injectors and it works great. I dont recall the name of the sensor on the back of the block on the a6(maybe Temp sending?) but on the z6 its under the dizzy. The plugs are different on the two so i had to use the plug from the z6 harness to relocate it.

You will need the Driver side mount off the a6 and use it on the z6. I think its the upper timing belt cover that causes the problem so choices were grind a bit of the cover or mount...i chose cover since its plastic and doesnt hold my motor in place.

The dont think a regular 88 clutch kit wont fit on the z6 flywheel. If im not mistaken the surface area on teh z6 is bigger so the clutch kit wont line up to the mounting points. I purchased a fidanza lightened flywheel for my swap and when i tried to use a stock clucth it didtn line up. I had to purchase the upgraded version of the 88 clutch that has the increased surface area for 92+ flywheels.

GL and pm me if ya need more info.

yea plugs are the same.

*edit* found this https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1807779

read 2nd post. So if your using the z6 flywheel u will need the upgraded version of an 88 clutch or 90-91 tranny. Probably cheaper to just get the clutch rather then new tranny and clutch

Heres where i got my clutch and u can see where they offer regular and bigger clutch for 88's http://www.clutchcityonline.com/honda_crx.htm

dood, just read up the page, it explains everything. The flywheel doesnt matter on the motor, the year of tranny is what matters.
